Design that begins
with listening.

Every project at Flannery Interiors starts the same way: with a real conversation about how you live, what you love, and what you've always imagined. The rooms come after.

Attention to every detail

The gap between a good room and an extraordinary one is almost always in the details that most people never consciously notice. We notice them. Precision in finish selection, millwork proportions, lighting layers, and accessory placement is non-negotiable for us.

Pragmatic by nature

Great design solves problems as much as it creates beauty. We are flexible, resourceful, and calm under the pressures of construction timelines and shifting budgets. Beautiful outcomes require practical thinking at every step, and we bring both.

A globally trained eye

Principal designer Theresa Flannery grew up as a diplomat's daughter, living in Russia, India, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, South America — and a formative stretch in France that shaped her sense of the understated and the enduring. That breadth of cultural exposure informs every color choice, every proportion, every room.

Designed around you

Beautiful rooms that don't reflect the people living in them are just photographs. We design for your personality, your routines, your family, and your life as it is actually lived — with the flexibility to meet you wherever you are in the process.

OUR SERVICES

  • Our most comprehensive offering — and the one we are most passionate about. We take complete ownership of your interior, from the earliest concept conversations through the final placement of art and accessories. You make the decisions; we handle everything else, coordinating with your architect, builder, and trades throughout.

This is the service behind Grandma Cottage in the Woods — a multi-million ground-up custom home designed in its entirety by Flannery Interiors, from architectural millwork to the last throw pillow.

  • A renovation is a puzzle — working with what exists, improving what can be changed, and making the finished result feel as though it was always meant to be exactly this way. We are experienced in the particular creativity required to transform an existing space: respecting its bones while updating its soul. Whether it's a single room or an entire home, we bring the same standard of care and precision to every project.

  • Sometimes a home needs a single room transformed — or a fresh perspective on a space that has never quite felt right. A room refresh focuses our full attention on one area of your home: new furniture, revised layout, updated color, new lighting, and curated accessories. The result is a room that finally feels finished. This is also an excellent way to begin a longer relationship, for clients who want to experience our process before committing to a full project.

    Typical scope

    • One to three rooms

    • Furniture & layout

    • Color & paint

    • Lighting updates

    • Art & accessories

  • Great design doesn't require us to be in the same room. For clients outside the Twin Cities — or those who prefer a more independent process — we offer full virtual design services. You receive the same quality of thinking, the same curated recommendations, and the same personal attention, delivered digitally. We are as comfortable working with a client in another state as we are working across town.

    Deliverables

    • Digital mood boards

    • Furniture & sourcing guides

    • Color & finish recommendations

    • Video consultations

FEATURED PROJECT

Grandma Cottage
in the Woods

Bright kitchen with large windows, white cabinetry, blue dutch door and a brass faucet, decorated with potted plants and fruit.

About the project

Some projects arrive with a spreadsheet of requirements. This one arrived with something more lasting: a feeling. Our client — a woman of remarkable warmth and discernment, whose primary home is in Florida — had found seventeen acres of untouched Minnesota woodland bordering protected wetlands. She wanted to build something worthy of it. A home that would feel like hers alone on a quiet Tuesday morning, and like everyone's on a loud Christmas weekend.

She came to Flannery Interiors directly, having followed our work for some time. From our very first conversation, two things were clear: she was starting a new chapter of her life, and she intended to do it beautifully. Recently divorced and living on her own, she wanted a home that would hold her — cocoon her, even — on the evenings she spent alone. But she also has nine grandchildren and a large, exuberant family, and she wanted a house that would make every one of them want to come back, year after year.

A home designed to hold a full life — the quiet mornings and the loud holidays.
